Origin and background of the character
First introduced in the franchise’s earliest video games in 1996 with Pokémon Red and Blue on the Game Boy, Squirtle is the Water-type starter Pokémon of the Kanto region. Resembling a small, bipedal blue tortoise, its round, streamlined shell reduces water resistance, allowing it to swim at high speed, whilst also serving as a defensive shield in times of danger. An inseparable companion to Ash in the original animated series, featuring the unforgettable ‘Squirtle Squad’, this little pocket monster is a timeless icon of global pop culture. This exclusive ‘Soft Colour’ variant elegantly reimagines its iconic design, establishing itself as an essential collector’s item for any Trainer keen to expand their team and complete their Pokédex.
