Origin and world of the character (Lore)
First introduced in the seventh generation of video games with Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon in the Alola region, Mimiqui is a lonely Pokémon who suffers from a terrible curse: its true appearance is so terrifying that anyone who sees it is struck by a mysterious illness. Desperate to overcome his loneliness and make friends with humans and other Pokémon, he makes himself a crude cloth costume in the likeness of the mascot Pikachu, hoping to capitalise on Pikachu's popularity and finally be loved. Under its patched veil, it conceals fearsome shadow claws ready to strike if its disguise is damaged in battle.
