Origin and world of the character (Lore)
First appearing in the opening credits of Blake Edwards' crime film in 1963, the Pink Panther instantly captivated audiences to the point of becoming the heroine of her own series of animated shorts. Mute, imperturbably calm and politely British, she navigates a surreal and burlesque world where she takes great pleasure in thwarting the plans of her eternal rival, the moustachioed little man often referred to as "The Little Man". Accompanied by the legendary jazz theme composed by Henry Mancini, this timeless cartoon icon symbolises the phlegm, absurd humour and graphic elegance of the 1960s and 1970s.
