Origin and background of the character
The Den Den Mushi (or ‘Snailphone’) is one of the most inseparable and memorable contextual elements of the One Piece universe created by manga artist Eiichiro Oda. In this world of piracy, these wild snails, endowed with natural telepathic abilities, have been domesticated and fitted with horns, rotating dials and receivers to serve as a means of communication across the world’s oceans. Capable of hilariously mimicking the facial expressions, accessories (such as hats or glasses) and intonations of the person speaking at the other end of the line, they form the indispensable telephone and broadcasting network for the Navy, Pirates and civilians.
This 9 cm figurine from the "Sofvmates" collection perfectly captures all the quirky charm and authenticity of this little technological creature. The sculpture meticulously highlights its spiral shell serving as a casing, its telephone receiver firmly attached to its back, its large expressive eyes mounted on tentacles, and its small front-facing microphone. It is an absolute must-have for any collector wishing to add a fun and iconic touch to their display cabinet, symbolising in itself the pop culture and inventiveness of the Grand Line saga.
