Origin and character background
Buggy the Clown is one of the most recurring, eccentric and opportunistic buccaneers in the global epic One Piece, created by the genius mangaka Eiichiro Oda. Many decades before becoming a Grand Pirate and then one of the Four Emperors of the New World at the head of the Cross Guild, Buggy forged his legend as a young pirate apprentice aboard the Oro Jackson, the ship of the legendary Pirate King Gol D. Roger. Sailing alongside his eternal rival and brother-in-arms Shanks the Red, it was during this period that he accidentally ingested the Fragment Devil Fruit (Bara Bara no Mi), granting him the power to split his body into several pieces.
