This Banpresto figurine depicts Orochimaru, one of Konoha’s three legendary Sannin, as part of the Noir Edge Collection dedicated to Naruto Shippuden. Standing approximately 23 cm tall, it features the distinctive artistic style of this range, based on a largely monochrome design enhanced by a few carefully selected touches of colour.
Orochimaru is depicted standing in a calm yet menacing pose. His long black hair frames his very pale face, whose fine features and cold gaze immediately reinforce his unsettling appearance. Banpresto has paid particular attention to the shading and the precision of the facial details to convey his calculating nature.
This version features his classic outfit from Naruto Shippuden, with his loose-fitting tunic layered over dark clothing and, most notably, the imposing rope tied around his waist – an iconic element of his appearance. This detail is important: Banpresto’s official presentation shows Orochimaru in his traditional outfit with the large rope, and not in the Akatsuki cloak sometimes mentioned by certain retailers.
The Noir Edge Collection is based on the ‘monochrome × splash of colour’ concept. This approach deliberately reduces the colour palette in order to highlight the sculpting, the costume’s form and the character’s expression. The official Naruto website specifically presents this range as a new graphic interpretation of the characters, combining a monochrome look with a few colourful accents.

Character background and lore
Orochimaru is one of Konoha’s three legendary Sannin, alongside Jiraiya and Tsunade. A pupil of the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, during his youth, he showed exceptional talent for ninjutsu from a very early age. However, his ambition soon outstripped the limits imposed by the village: fascinated by knowledge and the vast array of existing techniques, he sought a way to prolong his life indefinitely so that he could study them all.
This obsession led him to carry out forbidden experiments and to develop a jutsu enabling him to transfer his consciousness into new bodies. When his research was discovered, Orochimaru left Konoha and continued his experiments in secret. He then founded the Hidden Village of Oto and gathered various ninjas and test subjects around him.
Orochimaru also joined the Akatsuki for a period of his life. His main objective at that time was to take possession of Itachi Uchiha’s body in order to obtain the Sharingan, but his attempt failed in the face of Itachi’s power. He eventually leaves the organisation and turns his attention to Sasuke Uchiha, whom he seeks to make his next host.
A scientist, master of numerous forbidden techniques and a specialist in snake-based jutsu, Orochimaru remains one of the most unpredictable characters in Naruto. At times a major antagonist, at others a figure pursuing his own goals independently of other factions, he plays a decisive role in several periods of the story and in Sasuke’s development.
