Based on Naruto Shippuden, this Banpresto figurine depicts Tobi during the period when the masked man assumed the identity of Madara Uchiha. Part of the Noir Edge Collection, it stands approximately 23 cm tall and captures the character’s iconic appearance as a member of Akatsuki in a deliberately sombre colour scheme.
The figurine depicts Tobi standing, clad in the Akatsuki’s long black cloak, adorned with red clouds edged in white. His face is entirely concealed behind his spiral-patterned mask with a single opening, rendered here in shades of dark grey in keeping with the Noir Edge aesthetic. The red trim on the cloak and the Akatsuki motifs provide the main splashes of colour in a composition dominated by black and grey.
The pose is deliberately understated: one hand is held open in front of the character, whilst the other remains concealed beneath his sleeve. The elaborately sculpted cloak, its raised collar and the mask positioned at the centre of the composition give this version an instantly recognisable silhouette. This approach is in keeping with the principle of the Noir Edge Collection, which reimagines the characters from Naruto Shippuden using a darker, high-contrast colour palette.
Tobi first appears as a mysterious, masked member of Akatsuki. As Naruto Shippuden progresses, he takes on increasing importance and eventually reveals himself openly as Madara Uchiha, using the identity of the legendary founder of the Uchiha clan to lend greater weight to his actions. It is notably under this identity that he unveils the Tsuki no Me Project and declares the Fourth Great Ninja War.
However, the appearance of the real Madara Uchiha on the battlefield raises the question of the masked man’s true identity. This is finally revealed when a Rasengan from Naruto shatters his mask: Tobi is in fact Obito Uchiha, a former comrade of Kakashi Hatake whom everyone had believed to be dead since childhood.
Having once been saved by the real Madara after being seriously injured, Obito is gradually drawn into Madara’s plan to create an illusory world. Traumatised in particular by Rin’s death, he took up Madara’s ambitions, donned a mask and assumed his identity to carry on with the plan that would lead to the Fourth Great Ninja War. This figurine specifically depicts this period of Tobi/Obito whilst assuming Madara’s identity, and not Madara Uchiha himself.
