NARUTO SHIPPUDEN - Gaara - Figure 17cm

This Banpresto figurine depicts Gaara in his role as the Fifth Kazekage of the Hidden Sand Village in Naruto Shippuden. Standing approximately 17 cm tall, it is part of the Gokage Shuuketsu series, dedicated to the leaders of the five great ninja villages. Here, Gaara strikes a straight and particularly understated pose, emphasising his status as a Kage rather than a combat scene.

The character is depicted with his short red hair, eyes ringed in black, and the kanji meaning ‘love’ inscribed on his forehead. His impassive expression reflects the calm and composed demeanour he adopts after becoming the Kazekage. His outfit combines dark burgundy clothing with a grey-green protective vest fitted with straps and buckles, complemented by shoulder guards.

On his back is his imposing beige water bottle, one of Gaara’s most recognisable accessories. This contains the sand he uses for his offensive and defensive techniques. The figurine also comes with a green and white base bearing the kanji for ‘Wind’, a direct reference to the Land of Wind and his role as Kazekage.

Character background and lore

Gaara hails from Sunagakure, the Hidden Sand Village, and is the son of the Fourth Kazekage. From the moment of his birth, he became the vessel for Shukaku, the One-Tailed Demon. Rejected and viewed as a weapon by many around him, he grew up in isolation and developed a violent personality, convinced that he could rely on no one but himself.

His encounter and confrontation with Naruto Uzumaki marked a major turning point in his development. In Naruto, Gaara discovers another jinchūriki who has also experienced loneliness and rejection, but who has chosen to forge bonds with others. This experience gradually leads Gaara to change his way of life and to seek his village’s recognition through means other than fear.

He eventually becomes the Fifth Kazekage and devotes himself to the protection of Sunagakure. Despite the Akatsuki’s extraction of Shukaku, Gaara retains his remarkable ability to manipulate sand. He can use it to form automatic shields, immobilise his opponents or launch powerful, large-scale attacks.

During the Fourth Great Ninja War, Gaara also plays a significant role within the Shinobi Alliance. His journey, from a lonely and feared child to a respected leader willing to protect others, is one of the most striking story arcs in Naruto Shippuden.
