This Banpresto figurine depicts Izuku Midoriya, alias Deku, as part of the Grandista collection. Standing approximately 25 cm tall, it stands out from the many depictions of the hero in his battle suit by instead portraying him in his student guise, complete with school uniform and rucksack. The Grandista range favours a generous scale and relatively realistic proportions to highlight the character’s silhouette and expression.
Izuku wears a black Japanese school uniform with a stand-up collar, fastened with several gold buttons. The jacket and trousers feature numerous sculpted pleats to give the clothes a more natural look. His famous red high-top trainers, with black laces and light-coloured soles, add an instantly recognisable splash of colour to the lower part of the figure.
An orange-yellow rucksack rests on his shoulders, with brown straps that Midoriya holds with both hands. This simple pose gives the impression that he is walking to school and deliberately distances the figurine from the usual imagery of combat. His broad smile, large green eyes, freckles and tousled green hair portray a particularly youthful and enthusiastic version of Deku.

Character background and universe (Lore)
Izuku Midoriya is the protagonist of My Hero Academia. He was born without a Quirk in a world where around 80 per cent of the population possesses a supernatural ability. Despite this lack of power, he has dreamt of becoming a professional hero since childhood and particularly admires All Might, who was then regarded as the Symbol of Peace. His heroic instinct and his desire to help others eventually caught All Might’s attention.
All Might chooses Izuku as the successor to One For All, a hereditary Quirk that accumulates the power of its various holders. Midoriya thus becomes its ninth heir and enrols in the prestigious Hero Course at Yuei High School to learn how to control a power that is initially far too powerful for his body.
Throughout his training, Deku develops his own fighting style and remains driven by a particularly strong desire to save those in danger. The school uniform reproduced by this Grandista figure captures precisely this fundamental aspect of the character: before being a fighter capable of wielding One For All, Izuku is first and foremost a young student passionate about heroes, observant and determined to become someone capable of helping others himself.
