CHARACTER BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT
Introduced by Pixar Studios in 2001, James P. Sullivan, known as "Sully", is a large monster with turquoise fur speckled with purple and horns. At theMonsters, Inc.factory in the city of Monstropolis, he works as an “Elite Scare,” collecting the energy generated by human children’s screams. His life takes a new direction following his chance encounter with a little girl named Boo. This interaction leads him to discover that children’s laughter is a source of energy far more powerful and stable than fear, thereby transforming the economic and social model of his original organisation.
