Origin and character lore
In the history of genre cinema, the Strange Creature from Black Lake (commonly known as the Gill-man) is an amphibious humanoid creature, the last survivor of a prehistoric species dating back to the Devonian period. Living in hiding in the Amazon, at the heart of an uncharted, idyllic lagoon, this guardian of the territory sees his tranquillity disrupted by the unexpected arrival of a human scientific expedition. Fascinated by the swimmer Kay Lawrence, the freshwater monster develops an obsession tinged with curiosity, leading him into a tragic and desperate battle against the men who have come to capture him and subject him to scientific experimentation. This soft toy celebrates one of the most iconic, poetic and influential figures among the classic monsters of Hollywood’s Golden Age.
