Queen of the Dead is an alternate version of Wanda Maximoff, alias Scarlet Witch, appearing in the animated series Marvel Zombies. This universe continues the alternate reality introduced in What If...? in which an epidemic transforms a large proportion of superheroes and the general population into zombies.
Wanda is also among the infected characters. However, thanks to her immense powers and her mastery of chaos magic, she manages to retain or regain a level of consciousness far superior to that of most of the undead.
In Marvel Zombies, she takes the title of Queen of the Dead and becomes capable of commanding large numbers of zombies. She thus constitutes one of the main threats facing the survivors. Several characters explicitly describe her as Wanda Maximoff, the ‘Queen of the Dead’.
Her abilities remain closely linked to those of the Scarlet Witch: energy manipulation, chaos magic and reality warping. In this universe ravaged by the infection, these powers take on an even more dangerous dimension, as Wanda seeks to reshape the world according to her own vision.
