Character background and lore

Stitch is an alien creature originally known as Experiment 626. Created to wreak havoc, he escapes and eventually ends up in Hawaii, where he meets Lilo, a young girl who decides to adopt him. Their relationship gradually transforms Stitch and introduces him to loyalty, friendship and, above all, the concept of ‘ohana’, or family. The original animated film *Lilo & Stitch* was released in 2002. 

The word ‘Ohana’ on the chest of this hoodie therefore refers directly to one of the franchise’s core themes. Despite his boisterous nature and his origins as a creature designed for destruction, Stitch eventually comes to regard Lilo and those around her as his own family. This evolution from chaos to affection has become one of the character’s most recognisable traits.
