Taken from the cinematic universe of The Lord of the Rings, this Iron Studios figurine depicts Sauron, the Dark Lord, in his imposing, warlike form. Part of the Unleashed Art Scale 1/10 range, it stands approximately 36 cm tall and depicts the saga’s iconic antagonist in a highly detailed composition inspired by Mordor.
Sauron is depicted clad in his heavy, spiked black armour, wearing his gigantic helmet crowned with blades and a dark cloak billowing behind him. In his hand, he brandishes his imposing war-mace, whilst the One Ring is visible on his gloved hand. The engravings on the armour, the various metal plates and the reliefs on the helmet reinforce the massive and menacing appearance of this incarnation of the character.
The base forms an important part of the composition. Iron Studios has designed it around a setting evoking the volcanic ruins of Mount Doom and the architecture of Barad-dûr, featuring dark rocks and elements reminiscent of the desolate lands of Mordor. The overall design emphasises Sauron’s verticality and makes this Unleashed version a true centrepiece for a collection dedicated to Middle-earth.
Crafted primarily from polystone and entirely hand-painted, this statuette is a static piece intended for display. It measures approximately 36 × 23 × 23 cm, making for a particularly imposing presence despite its 1/10 scale.

Sauron is one of the main antagonists in the universe created by J.R.R. Tolkien. Originally, he was a Maia, a spirit belonging to the same order of supernatural beings as Gandalf and Saruman. Initially associated with Aulë, he gradually strayed from his path and became one of the most powerful servants of Melkor / Morgoth, the first Dark Lord. Following Morgoth’s defeat, Sauron in turn assumed the role of Lord of Darkness and sought to subjugate Middle-earth to his authority.
During the Second Age, Sauron notably took on the guise of Annatar, the ‘Lord of Gifts’, in order to gain the trust of the Elven smiths of Eregion. His knowledge contributed to the creation of the Rings of Power. In secret, he then forges the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom, infusing it with a considerable portion of his own power in order to dominate the other rings and their bearers.
The nine rings given to Men eventually transform their bearers into the Nazgûl, the Ringwraiths entirely subservient to Sauron. From his fortress of Barad-dûr, the Dark Lord also rallies vast armies of Orcs and other servants to extend his power over Middle-earth.
The appearance depicted in this figurine corresponds to the imposing warrior form shown in Peter Jackson’s film trilogy, notably during the War of the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. Sauron appears directly on the battlefield with the One Ring on his finger and his gigantic mace, capable of hurling several opponents aside with every swing. Iron Studios has faithfully recreated this portrayal for its ‘Sauron Unleashed’ version, setting it against a backdrop evoking Mount Doom and Barad-dûr.
After the loss of the One Ring at the end of this war, Sauron survives but cannot immediately regain his full power. The Ring thus becomes the centre of the plot of *The Lord of the Rings*: its destruction in the flames of Mount Doom ultimately leads to the definitive downfall of Sauron’s power at the end of the Third Age.
