Character background and lore

Éowyn is the niece of King Théoden of Rohan and a determined warrior who refuses to stand on the sidelines of battle. During the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, she secretly joins the Riders of Rohan and finds herself facing the Witch-King of Angmar, leader of the Nazgûl and one of Sauron’s most powerful servants.

The Witch-King is protected by an ancient prophecy stating that no man can defeat him. When he threatens Théoden following the king’s fall, Éowyn steps in and reveals her identity before confronting him, with Merry’s help. Their duel becomes one of the most iconic moments in *The Return of the King*.
