Origin and background of the character
Created by Naoya Matsumoto, the globally successful manga Kaiju No. 8 plunges readers into a contemporary Japan under constant attack from giant monsters known as Kaijus. To counter this apocalypse, the Japan Defence Forces (JAKDF) deploy heavily armed elite troops. Mina Ashiro is the gifted and charismatic captain of the Third Unit of this military corps, as well as Kafka Hibino’s childhood friend. A true prodigy of ranged combat, she wields a devastating portable heavy cannon with a phenomenal rate of fire, establishing herself as the ultimate symbol of humanity’s hope. This Funko Pop! figurine from the ‘Pop! Plus’ range captures her commanding presence, military style and determination, whilst its rare ‘Chase’ variant showcases another exclusive facet of the character, much to the delight of fans and discerning collectors alike.
