Origin and background of the character
Kafka Hibino is the central protagonist of the global hit Kaiju No. 8, the Shonen manga written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto. Aged 32 and initially employed by a cleaning company specialising in the disposal of monster corpses, he pursues his childhood dream of joining the Japan Self-Defence Forces alongside his friend Mina Ashiro. His fate takes a dramatic turn when a tiny kaiju forcibly invades his body, granting him the extraordinary ability to transform at will into a powerful humanoid monster known by the code name "Kaiju No. 8". Despite the colossal destructive power hidden beneath his appearance, Kafka retains his human consciousness and uses his powers in secret to protect his comrades in the Third Division. Banpresto’s renowned “Grandista” collection brings all its expertise to bear here, meticulously sculpting his official Defence Force uniform and perfectly capturing the determined expression on his face and the unique presence of this unconventional hero.
