Banpresto / Bandai Spirits’ Ichibansho collection features a figurine of Steven Steel, the organiser of the great transcontinental race at the heart of *JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run*. Standing approximately 20 cm tall, this pre-painted figure depicts the organiser in a pose directly inspired by his role in the seventh part of the saga.
Steven Steel is depicted standing, with one arm raised vertically whilst the other is placed behind his back. He is wearing his long light-green coat trimmed with blue-green detailing, brown trousers and his small rectangular glasses. His distinctive blonde hairstyle and smiling expression immediately bring to mind the character’s appearance as depicted in *Steel Ball Run*.
The base is one of the figurine’s most original features: several miniature horses galloping at full speed surround Steven’s feet, a direct reference to the equestrian competition he organises. The whole piece rests on a large brown cylindrical plinth adorned with a golden medallion, giving the composition the appearance of a trophy or a commemorative monument dedicated to the Steel Ball Run. Measuring approximately 20 cm, the piece can be displayed alongside the other Ichibansho figurines dedicated to Johnny Joestar, Gyro Zeppeli and the characters from Part 7.
Steven Steel is one of the key supporting characters in Steel Ball Run, the seventh part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. The anime’s official website describes him as the founder of the Steel Ball Run, described as North America’s first transcontinental horse race, as well as a seasoned promoter with a forty-year career.
The competition forms the main backdrop to the story and brings together riders who have come to take part in a particularly gruelling journey across the American continent. Although he is not one of the main competitors, Steven plays a key role in organising and publicising the event. His role gradually leads him to become embroiled in issues that go far beyond mere sporting competition.
Steven is also married to Lucy Steel, a key character in the plot. The official website describes Lucy as a key source of support for her husband, despite their significant age difference. As the true stakes surrounding the race become apparent, their story becomes closely intertwined with the manoeuvres of President Funny Valentine and the events surrounding Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli during their journey.
The Ichibansho figurine perfectly captures this role as master of ceremonies and organiser of the Steel Ball Run: Steven stands atop a platform surrounded by horses racing past, in a theatrical pose that directly evokes his role as promoter and public face of the event.
