The Ichibansho collection from Banpresto / Bandai Spirits features a figurine of Lucy Steel, a major character from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run. Standing approximately 21 cm tall, this figure from the MASTERLISE range faithfully recreates Lucy’s appearance in the seventh part of the saga, with a design that particularly highlights her slender figure and distinctive outfit.
Lucy is depicted standing in an elegant pose, with her legs crossed and her arms slightly away from her body. Her blonde hair, styled in curls framing her face, complements her attentive expression. Her outfit combines a fitted pink top worn over a black top, a purple pleated skirt, dark tights and high brown-red boots. Pink cuffs adorned with large golden ornaments encircle her wrists and add an extra touch to the character’s highly recognisable design.
The relatively understated pose fits well with Lucy’s role in *Steel Ball Run*, where her importance lies less in physical strength than in her determination, courage and ability to act at the heart of a particularly dangerous political situation. Standing at 21 cm tall, the figure can be displayed alongside the other MASTERLISE figures from the same range, notably Steven Steel, Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli.
Lucy Steel, née Lucy Pendleton, is the wife of Steven Steel, the organiser of the great transcontinental race that gives its name to Steel Ball Run. The anime’s official website describes her as a vital source of support for Steven, despite their significant age difference. She is voiced in Japanese by Rie Takahashi in the animated adaptation.
The story is set in 1890, when the Steel Ball Run is due to cover some 4,000 miles across North America. Whilst Lucy initially appears to be uninvolved in the competition itself, her role gradually takes on considerable importance as the true stakes surrounding the race begin to emerge.
Lucy uncovers President Funny Valentine’s plans and realises that the Steel Ball Run conceals a struggle over the fragments of the Saint’s Body. Fearing for Steven’s safety in particular, she decides to take action and ends up cooperating with Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli. Although she is not portrayed as a traditional fighter, her courage and initiative directly influence several major events in the second half of the story
This MASTERLISE figurine specifically chooses to depict Lucy in her classic appearance rather than during a fight scene. Her elegant and reserved posture thus contrasts with the growing importance she acquires within the plot, making her one of the most pivotal characters in *Steel Ball Run* apart from the race participants.
