Origin and licence lore
Released in 1975 and adapted from Peter Benchley’s novel,Jaws is the seminal film that pioneered the modern concept of the ‘summer blockbuster’. The terrifying story is set on the tourist beaches of the small seaside resort of Amity Island, which is suddenly targeted by a killer great white shark of abnormal size. Faced with the inaction of the local authorities, who fear the ruin of the summer season, Police Chief Martin Brody teams up with an eccentric oceanographer, Matt Hooper, and a hardened shark hunter, Captain Quint, to track down the monster out at sea aboard the Orca. Set to John Williams’ minimalist and harrowing score, this cult classic has left its mark on the history of world cinema. This sleek mug celebrates the iconic imagery of a major film that continues to send shivers down the spines of generations of viewers.
