Origin and character background (Lore)

Hatsune Miku is a virtual singer developed by Crypton Future Media using voice synthesis software. Launched in 2007, she quickly became one of the best-known figures in Japanese digital music culture.

Recognisable by her long turquoise hair tied in two plaits and her futuristic design, Miku does not have a single, fixed backstory. Instead, she serves as a true creative canvas for composers, illustrators and artists, who can reinterpret her in a multitude of styles.

It is this freedom that has given rise to countless alternative versions of Hatsune Miku: seasonal outfits, gothic, rock, punk and fantasy styles, as well as collaborations with a wide range of artists and franchises.

This Punk version is very much in keeping with this tradition of reinterpretation, presenting a more rebellious and alternative Miku whilst retaining the visual identity that has made her a global icon of virtual music.
