This Monopoly money box depicts Mr Monopoly, the famous mascot of Hasbro’s board game. Manufactured by Monogram, it takes the form of a PVC figurine featuring the character’s key attributes: a black top hat, a large white moustache, an elegant suit and a walking stick.
Mr Monopoly is depicted standing in a welcoming pose, with one arm outstretched to the side whilst his other hand rests on his brown walking stick. His black suit is complemented by a white shirt and waistcoat, as well as a red bow tie, adding a touch of colour to the predominantly black-and-white design.
The sculpture employs deliberately stylised proportions, with a particularly large head, small black eyes and a moustache that takes up a large part of his face. This design ensures the character’s visual identity remains instantly recognisable, whilst transforming the Monopoly mascot into a decorative and functional object.

Origin and character background (Lore)
Mr Monopoly is the official mascot of Monopoly, the famous property trading game first marketed by Parker Brothers in 1935 and now owned by Hasbro.
The character first appeared in 1936 on the Chance and Community Chest cards. He was then known as Rich Uncle Pennybags before gradually coming to be known by his current name, Mr Monopoly.
His appearance as a wealthy gentleman – complete with top hat, suit, white moustache and walking stick – ties in directly with the game’s economic theme, in which players buy properties, collect rent and seek to establish monopolies.
Over the decades, Mr Monopoly has become one of the brand’s key visual symbols. He appears on numerous editions of the game, as well as on cards, illustrations and merchandise. This money box therefore logically draws on the character associated with money and financial transactions to create an object designed to hold coins.
