HARRY POTTER - Pocket Pop Keychain - Dark Mark (GW)

HARRY POTTER – Pocket POP! Keychain – Dark Mark Glow-in-the-Dark

Funko has brought one of the most unsettling symbols from the Harry Potter universe to the Pocket POP! Keychain range with this keychain dedicated to the Dark Mark. The famous combination of a skull and a snake is reproduced here in Funko’s stylised design, in a compact format that allows it to be attached to a set of keys, a bag or another accessory.

This version features a Glow-in-the-Dark finish, allowing certain parts of the symbol to glow in the dark after being exposed to a light source. This feature particularly highlights the silhouette of the skull and snake and reinforces the supernatural aspect associated with the Dark Mark. Funko states that the keyring has a total length of approximately 10.2 cm.

Made from PVC/vinyl, this Pocket POP! is a miniature version of Funko’s collectables. Its size makes it easy to carry an iconic item from the Death Eaters’ universe whilst retaining the instantly recognisable design of the POP! range.

Origin and Lore

The Dark Mark is the symbol of Lord Voldemort and his followers, the Death Eaters. It depicts a skull with a snake emerging from its mouth and is one of the most recognisable emblems of the forces of dark magic in the Harry Potter series.

The Death Eaters closest to Voldemort bear this mark on their left forearm. It is not merely a sign of allegiance: Voldemort can use it to summon his followers. When one of the marks is activated, the others become painful, signalling to the Death Eaters that their master is calling them.

The Dark Mark can also be projected into the sky using the Morsmordre spell. It then appears as a huge greenish skull accompanied by a snake and is traditionally used to signal a murder or an attack carried out by the Death Eaters. One of its most striking appearances occurs after the Quidditch World Cup, an event that heralds the gradual return of the threat posed by Voldemort.

The ‘Glow in the Dark’ finish chosen by Funko is particularly well suited to this depiction: the keyring reproduces, in miniature form, the luminous and eerie appearance of the Mark when it appears in the sky of the wizarding world.
