GUNDAM 00 – HG 1/144 GNX-U02X Masurao – Model Kit

Discover one of the most distinctive Mobile Suits from Mobile Suit Gundam 00 with the GNX-U02X Masurao, brought to you by Bandai Spirits in the High Grade (HG) range at 1/144 scale. Specially developed for Mr Bushido, this Mobile Suit stands out for its slender silhouette, its black and red colour scheme, and its design, which directly evokes the aesthetic of a samurai warrior.

This High Grade model faithfully reproduces the Masurao’s distinctive features, notably its large frontal antennae, angular shoulders and imposing Side Binders. Bandai has specifically focused on the articulation of the Side Binders and the arms to allow for dynamic poses and to recreate some of the character’s iconic stances, notably his crossed-arms pose. 

The main armament consists of two GN Beam Sabres of different sizes. The long sabre is named Howard, whilst the short model is called Daryl, in honour of two former companions of Graham Aker. A Beam Chakram completes the kit. The kit also includes several interchangeable hands to allow for varied combat scenes. 

A BA-1 display stand is supplied with the model to display the Masurao in aerial poses or particularly dynamic combat configurations. The joints utilise the polycap system characteristic of HG kits of this generation. 

The various parts are colour-moulded and use the snap-fit assembly system specific to Bandai Gunpla. No glue is required for assembly, and painting is optional. Bandai also supplies a black flexible wire and a sheet of metallic decals to add finishing touches to certain details of the Mobile Suit.

The GNX-U02X Masurao was developed by Billy Katagiri and a team comprising, amongst others, former Union engineers to meet Mr Bushido’s requirements. Designed as an extremely fast machine specialising in close-quarters combat, it draws direct inspiration from the Union Flag lineage. Its architecture utilises two GN Drive Tau units and enables it, in particular, to use the Trans-Am System, making the Masurao one of the first machines equipped with GN Tau generators capable of utilising this technology.

In the second series of Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Mr Bushido uses the Masurao in his obsessive quest for a duel against Setsuna F. Seiei and the 00 Raiser. The Mobile Suit is notably involved in a high-speed clash during which its Trans-Am system is activated. The Masurao subsequently served as the basis for an upgraded version, the GNX-Y901TW Susanowo, continuing the evolution of Graham Aker’s personal Mobile Suits.
