Character background and lore
In the poetic and contemplative world of the hit manga *Frieren*, created by Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe, Himmel is the charismatic leader of the group of heroes who succeeded in defeating the Demon King at the end of a ten-year journey. Whilst he can at times be narcissistic, particular about his appearance and loves commissioning statues in his own image, Himmel is above all a man of infinite kindness and selfless altruism, reaching out to anyone who crosses his path. It was he who had a profound impact on the life of the elven mage Frieren, planting within her the seeds of curiosity about humanity, although she only fully realised this after his funeral, fifty years later.
