Frieren is the main protagonist of *Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End*, a manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe. An elven mage of exceptional longevity, she was once part of the group led by the hero Himmel, with whom she helped defeat the Demon King.
For Frieren, the ten years spent with her companions represent only a brief period of her existence. Following Himmel’s death, however, she realises how much she had underestimated the value of the time spent with humans.
She then embarks on a new journey with Fern and Stark, during which she seeks to better understand the emotions, memories and bonds that unite human beings. This inner quest is one of the central themes of the series.
Frieren stands out for her immense mastery of magic, her sometimes obsessive curiosity about grimoires, and her often calm, detached or slightly awkward demeanour. The small, humorous, everyday scenes, such as the one depicted in this ‘Poking Something’ version, play a key part in the character’s charm and the series’ identity.
