History and background of the model
The character of Jason Voorhees was conceived by Victor Miller, Ron Kurz, Sean S. Cunningham and Tom Savini for the inaugural film *Friday the 13th*, released in 1980, before becoming the indestructible killer and central protagonist of the franchise from the following instalment onwards. Inseparable from the cursed Crystal Lake holiday camp, the character adopted his definitive and iconic look in *Friday the 13th Part 3*, arming himself with a machete and wearing a hockey mask to conceal his deformities.
