FINAL FANTASY - Chocobo's Scout Frenzy - Board Game

Chocobo’s Scout Frenzy is a card and strategy game published by Square Enix set in the Final Fantasy universe. Between 2 and 5 players set off on an expedition with their Chocobos to collect as many Gysahl vegetables as possible, whilst avoiding the monsters and various traps they encounter along the way.

On each turn, players secretly choose a numbered Chocobo card before revealing them simultaneously. The values played determine the order in which each player may collect the available Exploration cards. Gysahl vegetables earn points, whilst monsters such as Goblins or Iron Giants can, on the other hand, cause players to lose points.

Special cards alter the course of the game. Dice cards, Companion cards featuring characters such as Shiroma and the Mogs, as well as Bomb cards, can influence the score and disrupt established strategies. Players must therefore anticipate their opponents’ choices and manage their numbered cards wisely to achieve the highest score.

Origin and universe of the franchise

Chocobos are amongst the most iconic creatures in Final Fantasy. These large yellow birds appear in many instalments of the series, where they generally serve as mounts, enabling the heroes to travel swiftly across the vast regions of their adventures.

Gysahl vegetables also feature regularly in the Final Fantasy universe and are traditionally associated with Chocobos. Chocobo’s Scout Frenzy draws directly on this connection by making their collection the players’ main objective.
