Character background and lore
In Disney’s classic 2002 animated film Lilo & Stitch, Stitch is no ordinary animal butGenetic Experiment 626, an illegal alien creature created by the mad scientist Jumba Jookiba. Endowed with Herculean strength, intelligence superior to that of a computer and unbreakable resilience, he was originally programmed for a single mission: to wreak havoc and destroy everything in his path.
After escaping from his galactic prison, his spaceship crashes on Earth, on the tropical island of Kauai in Hawaii. To escape his pursuers, the alien disguises himself as a dog and is adopted from a shelter by Lilo Pelekai, an eccentric and solitary little girl. It is through his time with Lilo and the Hawaiian philosophy ofOhana — which states that “Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten” — that Stitch overcomes his destructive instincts. He learns compassion, loyalty and tenderness, transforming this little space monster into a loving and protective member of the family. This soft toy celebrates the endearing duality of this character, who has become an iconic figure in pop culture.
