Origin and character background (Lore)
Released in 1970, Disney’s classic animated film The Aristocats takes us to the heart of Paris during the Belle Époque. Marie, an adorable white female kitten, lives in a sumptuous mansion, surrounded by her mother Duchesse and her two brothers, Toulouse and Berlioz. Pampered by their wealthy and kind mistress, Madame de Bonnefamille, the little siblings lead a peaceful life filled with music and painting.
Although she is coquettish, mischievous and sometimes a tad capricious, Marie stands out for her strong character and her iconic line: “True ladies don’t look for a fight, but they know how to finish one!” Her life is turned upside down when the villainous butler Edgar decides to kidnap the feline family to inherit Madame’s fortune. Abandoned in the middle of the countryside, Marie shows great courage. With the help of the dashing stray cat Thomas O’Malley, she endures countless adventures to find her way back to her Parisian home. This weighted soft toy pays tribute to this iconic and timeless character, a symbol of grace, elegance and Disney nostalgia.
