Shinobu Kocho is one of the nine Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps and holds the title of Insect Hashira. Unlike most high-ranking fighters, she lacks the physical strength required to behead demons with a conventional blade.
She has therefore developed a highly distinctive fighting style, based on speed, precision and the use of poisons derived from wisteria. Her Nichirin sword is specially designed for this technique: instead of a traditional blade running its full length, it is shaped to suit thrusting attacks and the injection of toxic substances.
Shinobu uses the Insect Breathing style, a variant of the Flower Breathing style. Her movements mimic the agility and speed of insects, with attacks designed to strike her opponent’s weak points rather than directly meeting force with force.
Her gentle demeanour and constant smile stand in stark contrast to the deep anger she harbours towards demons. Her sword, Nichirin, with its unique silhouette and butterfly-shaped hilt, perfectly reflects this duality between elegance, precision and danger.
