Character background and lore
In the dark world of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Akaza holds the terrifying rank of Third Upper Moon within Muzan Kibutsuji’s Twelve Demon Moons. Once a human broken by tragedy, he has become a demon obsessed solely with brute force, the perfection of martial arts, and the constant search for powerful opponents to face.
Unlike other demons who use weapons or complex magic, Akaza fights with his bare hands, employing the ‘Compulsive Destruction’ fighting style—a devastating close-quarters combat discipline that generates pure shockwaves. His legendary clash with the Flame Pillar, Kyojuro Rengoku, during the Infinity Train arc, remains one of the most memorable moments in the series, illustrating his paradoxical respect for the valiant warriors he tirelessly attempts to convert to demonic immortality.
