Created by writer Fabian Nicieza and artist Rob Liefeld in 1991 for Marvel Comics, Deadpool, real name Wade Wilson, is a mercenary and anti-hero with an accelerated healing factor resulting from military experimentation. This power enables him to regenerate all of his destroyed limbs or cell tissue. The figure refers to a plot event in the 2018 feature film Deadpool 2, in which the character must regrow his lower body after being split in two by the character Juggernaut (The Scourge). The action figure captures the intermediate stage of this slowed biological growth.
