Nemesis Now has recreated one of the most iconic locations from the Superman universe in this ‘The Daily Planet’ bookend. Standing approximately 22 cm tall, the item reproduces the famous building housing Metropolis’s daily newspaper, recognisable by its Art Deco architecture and, above all, the huge globe bearing the name ‘Daily Planet’ mounted at its summit. This officially licensed DC item thus combines practical function with decorative appeal for collectors.
The reproduction takes the form of a historic building with numerous windows, topped by its metal structure supporting the iconic globe. The various façades feature a textured finish designed to evoke stone and metal, whilst the hand-applied paint highlights the building’s architectural reliefs and details. As each piece is hand-painted, slight variations in finish may occur from one piece to another.
Entirely moulded from resin, this model has a weight and base suitable for use as a bookend. It can therefore be placed at the end of a row of comics, novels or books dedicated to DC, whilst also serving as a decorative figurine when displayed on its own.
The choice of the Daily Planet is particularly linked to Superman: behind his superhero identity, Clark Kent works as a journalist at this newspaper alongside Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen and editor-in-chief Perry White. This bookend thus captures the character’s universe without directly featuring a Superman figurine.

Origin and background of the Daily Planet (Lore)
The Daily Planet is Metropolis’s major fictional daily newspaper and one of the most important recurring locations in Superman’s adventures. The newspaper first appeared under this name in Action Comics No. 23 in 1940, having been introduced in the early stories as the Daily Star. Over the decades, it has become inextricably linked to Superman’s civilian identity and his work as a journalist.
Clark Kent works at the Daily Planet alongside Lois Lane, herself an investigative journalist, the photographer and reporter Jimmy Olsen, and the editor-in-chief Perry White. Their work regularly places them at the heart of events involving Superman, Lex Luthor or the many threats facing Metropolis, even though most of the staff remain unaware for a long time that Clark Kent and Superman are one and the same person.
The Daily Planet building has become almost as recognisable as the newspaper itself thanks to the gigantic globe that dominates its roof. Depending on the various continuities, animated or film adaptations, its architecture varies, but this globe generally remains the central visual feature that makes it instantly recognisable.
By accurately reproducing this tower and its globe, the Nemesis Now bookend thus references one of the cornerstones of Superman’s double life: a place where Clark Kent can work as a journalist when the Man of Steel is not directly called upon to intervene.
