Taken from the supernatural world of Dandadan, this Banpresto figurine depicts Turbo Granny in her maneki-neko form, the appearance she takes on following her clash with Momo and Okarun. Part of the Figure Life range, this figure stands approximately 20 cm tall, offering a deliberately imposing interpretation of the little lucky cat who has become one of the series’ most recognisable characters.
The sculpture captures the key details of this look: a white body with black markings, large erect ears, closed eyes and a perpetually annoyed expression. Her red collar is complemented by a large golden plaque, directly reminiscent of traditional maneki-neko ornaments, creating a contrast between the lucky cat’s appearance and Turbo Granny’s particularly grumpy personality.

Turbo Granny is a modern yōkai known for appearing unpredictably and for her supernatural speed. At the start of Dandadan, she lives in a tunnel in the town of Shono, where she has formed a partnership with a spirit bound to the place. It is there that Okarun, alias Ken Takakura, meets her whilst seeking to prove the existence of supernatural phenomena. The anime’s official website describes her as a yōkai once known for wreaking havoc across the country.
The confrontation with Momo Ayase and Okarun forms one of the series’ first major story arcs. Turbo Granny possesses Okarun and unwittingly transfers some of her abilities to him, notably her phenomenal speed. Following their clash and Seiko Ayase’s intervention, her powers remain locked within Okarun whilst her consciousness is separated from him.
This consciousness is eventually placed inside a maneki-neko, giving rise to the appearance faithfully reproduced by this Figure Life figurine. Deprived of her original form, Turbo Granny continues to accompany the group in the guise of a small, talking, mobile lucky cat. Despite her sarcastic, hot-tempered and often provocative nature, her knowledge of the world of yōkai gradually becomes invaluable to Momo and her companions.
The choice of the maneki-neko also creates a deliberately humorous contrast: one of the most menacing spirits encountered at the start of Dandadan finds herself trapped inside a figurine traditionally associated with luck and prosperity. This duality between supernatural horror and comedy is precisely one of the series’ defining features and explains why this form of Turbo Granny has become particularly iconic.
