Origin and background of the character
Created by manga artist Yukinobu Tatsu, Dandadan is an explosive shōnen series acclaimed for its unique blend of frenetic action, the occult, alien science fiction and romantic comedy. The plot begins when Momo Ayase, a high school student from a line of mediums, and Ken ‘Okarun’ Takakura, a UFO enthusiast, set each other a challenge to prove the existence of their respective beliefs. Okarun then finds himself cursed by Turbo Granny, a yokai of terrifying speed and formidable vulgarity who haunts the railway tunnels. After being defeated and stripped of her powers by the duo, the old woman’s spirit finds itself trapped and, ironically, sealed inside a lucky cat figurine (Maneki-neko) belonging to Momo’s grandmother. This Funko Pop! figurine perfectly captures the image of this grumpy cat, combining the kawaii aesthetic of a feline with the spectre’s sulky expression – ideal for completing your collection.
