Origin and background – Daft Punk and Random Access Memories

Daft Punk are the French duo formed by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, who have become globally recognisable thanks to their blend of electronic music, house, disco and funk, as well as their famous robot helmets. Their deliberately mysterious visual identity has become inseparable from their music and is now one of the major symbols of the French electronic music scene.

Released on 17 May 2013, *Random Access Memories* is the duo’s fourth and final studio album. On this album, Daft Punk placed particular emphasis on studio-recorded instruments and collaborations, notably with Nile Rodgers, Pharrell Williams, Giorgio Moroder, Julian Casablancas, Panda Bear and Paul Williams.
