Origin and background of the character
Michael Jordan, universally regarded as one of the greatest athletes of all time, left his mark on the NBA by leading the Chicago Bulls to six world championships in the 1990s. This particular figurine pays tribute to a pivotal moment in his career on 7 May 1989, forever known as ‘The Shot ’. In the decisive Game 5 of the first round of the play-offs between the Chicago Bulls and the Cleveland Cavaliers, His Majesty ‘Air Jordan’ sank a buzzer-beater of unreal purity over defender Craig Ehlo. Wearing his famous red away jersey bearing the number 23, Jordan celebrated this historic winning shot with a memorable leap of joy and a clenched fist – a legendary gesture perfectly captured in this exceptional figurine.
