Origin and world of the character
Eloise Bridgerton is one of the main characters in the television drama and historical romance series The Bridgerton Chronicle(Bridgerton), produced by Shondaland and broadcast on Netflix. The plot, adapted from the best-selling novels by Julia Quinn, takes place in London's high society during the English Regency period. The fifth sibling and second daughter of the family, Eloise stands out for her rebellious spirit, her keen intelligence and her adamant refusal to conform to the traditional expectations of the time regarding marriage and the role of women. Passionate about reading, writing and studying, she prefers to devote her energies to unmasking the mysterious identity of the anonymous columnist Lady Whistledown rather than looking for a suitor at the balls of the season.
