Based on Berserk, this Banpresto release is the second part of the Guts Grandista figure. Unlike a standalone figurine, this 2/2 set contains Guts’ right arm and his imposing Dragon Slayer sword, designed to complement the Guts Grandista 1/2 figurine, sold separately. The set of accessories is stated to measure approximately 25 cm.
The right arm is sculpted in a position that allows Guts to grip and wield his gigantic sword. The Dragon Slayer naturally takes up most of the composition: its extremely wide, thick and deliberately disproportionate blade captures the brutal appearance of the weapon as it appears in Kentaro Miura’s work. Once this part is attached to the 1/2-scale figure, Guts can be displayed with his iconic weapon, recreating the complete presentation envisaged by Banpresto.
The designation ‘2/2’ therefore does not refer to a scale. Banpresto has split this Grandista into two products: A:GUTS, comprising the main character, and B:RIGHT ARM & WEAPON, comprising the right arm and the weapon. The two items are sold separately and must be combined to achieve the complete set featuring the Dragon Slayer.
The Dragon Slayer is Guts’ iconic weapon in Berserk. More akin to a gigantic mass of metal than a conventional sword, it was forged by Godot after a lord asked him to create a weapon capable of slaying a dragon. Godot took the request literally and produced a blade so large and heavy that an ordinary fighter could scarcely use it.
Guts subsequently adopted the Dragon Slayer during his time as the Black Swordsman. His exceptional physical strength enables him to wield this colossal weapon against the Apostles and the various supernatural creatures he encounters. Through its repeated use in slaying beings from the astral world, the blade itself takes on a special significance in the series’ supernatural battles.
For this Grandista, Banpresto has made the Dragon Slayer a figure in its own right: its size requires a second dedicated box, accompanied by the right arm needed to attach it to Guts. This item, reference number 260402, is therefore essential when paired with the 1/2-scale Grandista Guts to create a complete representation of the armed character.
