Character origin and backstory (Lore)

Released in 1997 and directed by Joel Schumacher, Batman & Robin stars George Clooney as Bruce Wayne / Batman, alongside Chris O’Donnell as Robin. The two heroes must face Mr Freeze, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Poison Ivy, played by Uma Thurman. Batgirl, played by Alicia Silverstone, also joins their fight later in the film.

The plot sees Gotham facing several threats simultaneously. Mr Freeze seeks to turn the city into a frozen wasteland whilst continuing his research into his wife Nora’s illness, whilst Poison Ivy pursues her own agenda following her transformation. At the same time, Batman must manage the tensions arising in his partnership with Robin.
