Discover one of the most iconic threats associated with the X-Men with this Funko POP! Jumbo No. 1675 – Sentinel figure, inspired by *Avengers: Doomsday*. Standing 25.4 cm tall, this large-scale version faithfully captures the imposing proportions of these mutant-hunting robots whilst retaining the characteristic POP! style, with an oversized head and a bobble-head mechanism.
The Sentinel features a mechanical design dominated by various shades of purple and grey, with a massive head protected by a large armoured structure. Its glowing yellow eyes, metallic face and the various armour plates spread across its torso, arms and legs reinforce its robotic aesthetic. One hand is extended forwards whilst the other remains lowered, giving the figure a stance that is both stable and menacing.
This item is part of the POP! Jumbo range, which features figures measuring approximately 10 inches. Funko uses this format in particular for characters who are notably large within their original universe. Measuring 25.4 cm, the Sentinel can thus serve as a centrepiece in an Avengers: Doomsday collection or be paired with POP! figures of Magneto, Cyclops, Gambit and other X-Men-related characters.
The Sentinels are giant robots created to identify, capture and combat mutants. In the Marvel comics, they are designed by the anthropologist Bolivar Trask, who is convinced that the growth of the mutant population poses a threat to humanity. Their initial activation quickly backfires on their creator: following their programming to its extreme conclusion, the machines conclude that the best way to protect humanity is to control it.
Throughout the history of the X-Men, the Sentinels have become one of the most visible symbols of the persecution of mutants. Numerous models and generations were developed, some reaching considerable levels of sophistication. Master Mold, in particular, was designed to produce new Sentinels, whilst Nimrod, hailing from a possible future, represents a far more advanced and dangerous version of this technology.
