Character background and universe (Lore)

Doctor Doom, whose real name is Victor von Doom, is one of the major antagonists in the Marvel universe. In the comics, this scientist and practitioner of magic rules the fictional nation of Latveria from behind his iconic metal mask. He is historically one of the Fantastic Four’s principal adversaries, but his ambitions and power have also pitted him against numerous other Marvel heroes.

Avengers: Doomsday places Victor von Doom at the centre of a threat of unprecedented scale. Disney officially describes the film as a confrontation in which heroes from three distinct universes find themselves on a collision course in the face of an existential threat. Doctor Doom is portrayed in the film by Robert Downey Jr.
