Origin and background of the character
In the cult classic feature film from 1951, the Queen of Hearts rules Wonderland with an iron fist. Tyrannical, self-centred and quick to order the beheading of anyone who crosses her (“Off with her head!”), she spends her time playing croquet with flamingos as mallets and hedgehogs as balls. This colourful character perfectly embodies the utter nonsense and unpredictable dangers of the underground world into which Alice has strayed.
