Origin and world of the character
The Red-Eyes Black Dragon is one of the most ferocious, legendary and representative monsters in the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga and trading card game, created by Kazuki Takahashi. In the original animated TV series, this destructive beast (2400 ATK) becomes the trump card and symbol of Joey Wheeler's (Jonouchi Katsuya) progression, which he wins in a duel against Rex Raptor. Representing the hidden potential and will to win in the face of the innate perfection of Kaiba's White Dragon, the Black Dragon embodies perseverance and the unbreakable bond of friendship between Joey and Yugi Muto. This three-dimensional "Premium Card" design celebrates the golden age of the franchise by materialising the precise moment when the creature breaks the two-dimensional boundaries of its original illustration to physically manifest itself on the pitch.
