Origin and background of the character
Pennywise (known as Grippe-Sou in French) is the main incarnation of the malevolent, shape-shifting entity that awakens every 27 years in the small town of Derry, from Stephen King’s literary masterpiece. The prequel series *It: Welcome to Derry* explores the origins of this local curse over the preceding decades, revealing how this cosmic creature takes on the form of a clown to more easily lure its prey and feed on their deepest fears. Sporting his traditional, intricately detailed costume and sadistic smile, this figurine embodies the iconic face of psychological terror. An essential centrepiece for all fans of suspense, thrills and classic horror universes.
