Origin and background of the character
Released in 2009,Up stands out as one of the most memorable, touching and award-winning films in the history of Disney Pixar Studios. The adventure centres on Carl Fredricksen, a 78-year-old retired balloon salesman who, to avoid being sent to a care home, fulfils the dream of his late wife Ellie by tying thousands of multicoloured balloons to his own house to fly off to the wilds of South America. During his aerial journey, he discovers the hard way that a stowaway has made himself at home on his porch: Russell, an enthusiastic 8-year-old scout belonging to the ‘Nature Explorers’, who is on a quest to earn his final ‘Helping the Elderly’ badge. This Bitty Pop! Town version captures, with impressive attention to detail, the cheerful colours of the house and Russell’s adorable face, offering a miniature format that’s ideal for recreating the magic of the film on even your most compact shelves.
