TRANSFORMERS - Optimus Prime - Figure Takara Tomy MPG-17 25.6cm

TRANSFORMERS – Optimus Prime – Takara Tomy MPG-17 Style Generation 25.6 cm action figure

Discover a premium take on Optimus Prime with this MPG-17 Style Generation transformable action figure designed by Takara Tomy. The first release in the Style Gen. line to be incorporated into the high-end MPG range, it reimagines the famous leader of the Autobots by combining transformation, modern proportions, numerous mechanical details and a high degree of articulation.

The figure can switch from robot mode to truck mode thanks to a design intended to make transformation more intuitive and enjoyable to repeat. Takara Tomy has also refined the proportions by incorporating references to various incarnations of Convoy / Optimus Prime developed throughout the franchise’s history. Notably, the rear wheels feature a twin-tyre configuration, retained in both modes to allow for a complete transformation without any spare parts.

The MPG-17 comes with a particularly comprehensive set of weapons and accessories: the Matrix, a laser rifle, an energy axe, two energy blades and the Strike Shield. The accessories use standard 5 mm attachment points and can be combined in various ways; some weapons can also be mounted on the back in robot mode or at the rear of the truck in vehicle mode. Finally, the set includes various connecting joints, a character card and the instruction manual.

Character background and universe (Lore)

Optimus Prime is the iconic leader of the Autobots, the Transformers who oppose the Decepticons in their struggle to protect freedom and the life forms they encounter. According to several continuities within the franchise, he is linked to Orion Pax, who becomes Optimus Prime after receiving the Matrix of Leadership. Hasbro traditionally presents him as the leader of the Autobots and as one of their foremost fighters.

The MPG-17 Style Gen. is not intended to be a strict reproduction of any single animated version of Optimus Prime. Takara Tomy explains that it has deliberately combined elements from different depictions of the character developed over the course of his 40-year history, both in the overall design and in the weapons included. This approach allows the model to retain the red, blue and silver silhouette immediately associated with the Autobot leader, whilst offering a modern interpretation designed with transformation and display in mind.
