Origin and background of the character
Created by Matt Groening in 1989, the satirical animated series The Simpsons is an unmissable landmark in television and global pop culture. It depicts, with biting humour, the daily life of the American middle class through the lens of a famous, dysfunctional family with yellow skin living in the town of Springfield. The father, Homer Simpson, an incompetent safety inspector at the nuclear power station, is famous for his laziness, his obsessive love of doughnuts and Duff beer, and his legendary clumsiness. As soon as something goes wrong because of him, he instantly utters his signature catchphrase, which has become legendary worldwide: ‘D’oh!’. This unique addition to the “Pop! Sayings” range immortalises this iconic verbal quirk through a physical, raised speech bubble, making it an absolute must-have for all fans of the series.
