Meet Elaina, the heroine of The Journey of Elaina (Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina), with this figurine from the Yumemirize range produced by SEGA. Part of the manufacturer’s prize figurine collections, this figure stands approximately 24 cm tall and offers a more relaxed take on the famous Ash Witch.

Elaina is depicted sitting on the ground, wearing a white top paired with a long red skirt tied at the waist. Her silver-grey hair falls in long strands around her face, whilst her calm, slightly smiling expression enhances the peaceful feel of the scene. One arm raised and the other placed behind her head complete this relaxed pose, which differs from her usual depictions in full traveller’s attire.

Character background and lore

Elaina is the protagonist of *Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina*, a series of light novels written by Jougi Shiraishi and illustrated by Azure. The story follows a young witch who roams the world freely, travelling from country to country without a single quest to fulfil and, through her encounters, becoming a small part of the stories of the people she meets.

Known as the Ash-Haired Witch, in reference to her ash-coloured hair, Elaina develops exceptional magical abilities at a very early age. After being trained by the witch Fran, she sets out on her own journey, inspired in particular by the tales of a famous traveller known as Niké.

The structure of the series is largely based on her travels and the stories she discovers. Some stages take the form of light-hearted or humorous adventures, whilst others tackle far more dramatic situations. Elaina thus often acts more as a traveller and observer than as a heroine destined to systematically resolve the problems of the places she visits. This approach gives *The Journey of Elaina* its character as a travelling narrative, where each destination constitutes a new story before the Ash Witch sets off again.
